The West Stanly football team had not won more than one conference game in an individual season since the abbreviated 2020 spring season. The last time the Colts had two Rocky River conference victories in a full fall season came the year before, 2019.

West Stanly improved Friday to 2-1 in the RRC and 5-3 overall with a 24-12 road win at Parkwood (1-7, 0-3 RRC).

Rene Salazar led West’s ground attack with 174 yards on 33 carries with two touchdowns.

Colts quarterback Jett Thomas was 8-for-11 for 81 yards with a passing touchdown and a rushing TD as well.

Defensively, Nathan Snellings and Colby Bowers each had a quarterback sack, while Ben Mecimore and Ean Helms led with six tackles each for West.

“The guys fought hard and we played one of our most complete games this year. We still have things to work on and continue to improve,” West head coach Brett Morton said.

The Colts are in a three-way tie for second place in the Rocky River with Forest Hills and Anson. West will host Anson this Friday.
