Locust will consider two zoning changes at its December meeting after agreeing to set public hearings at its November meeting.

One involves a conditional use permit for a proposed QuikTrip at the southwest intersection of N.C. Highway 200 and N.C. Highway 24-27.

QuikTrip is a convenience store chain based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with more than 1,000 locations across the southern, midwestern and western parts of the United States. As of July 23, QuikTrip had 38 locations in North Carolina.

The applicant has requested to rezone the property from Highway Commercial to Highway Commercial – Conditional, with a conditional use for a convenience store with gas sales.

The other public hearing concerns a request by Taylor Morrison for a zoning change from Neighborhood Residential to Center City – Conditional for new townhouses.

Located at 105 Bell Ave. behind O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, the Farmington Townhouses residential subdivision plans to have 86 units, according to plans submitted to the city.

Both hearings will be at the Dec. 14 meeting of the Locust City Council.
